VU University Amsterdam offers a small number of scholarships for outstanding students from all international countries around the world through the FE-scholarship program. The selection criteria are scientific excellence and motivation important. We offer three types of scholarships:

International PhD Neuroscienc Studentship in Chemistry, Poland

The International PhD program “Towards Advanced Functional Materials and Novel Devices – Joint UW and WUT International PhD Programme” realized by the Faculties of Chemistry of Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) and University of Warsaw (UW), Poland, designed in cooperation with well-recognized international research Partner institutions.

3 students will be admitted to the first or second year of the International PhD studies.
PhD Projects listed below are still available:

UW-4: “Solution Thermodynamic of Ionic Liquids in Water, Aliphatic Alcohols and Hydrocarbons”
UW-5: “Organic semiconductors for organic electronics: synthesis, characterization and application in test devices”
PW-7: “Advanced polymeric materials – From calculation to application”

Duration of the program is 4 years, including 6-24 months spent abroad in the foreign Partner institutions.

A fellowship of 3000 PLN/month (tax-free) + 500 PLN/month (insurance) is offered, which compares well with the average salary in Poland. An additional allowance of 1500 PLN /month will be provided for the stay at the foreign partner institution.
Tuition fees for all coursework and health insurance are covered by the fellowship. The University will assist in finding accommodation.

We offer up to ten scholarships for undergraduate students for September entry. The scholarships are open to prospective full-time undergraduate students in any subject area for each year of a three-year course (subject to satisfactory progress). Foundation degree students (first or second year entry) are also eligible for the scholarships. Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

academic merit;what you expect to gain from the course you are taking; and

Scholarship DescriptionThe aim of this honours scholarship programme is to increase international recruitment of top-level students in Physics and Astronomy. The successful applicants are expected to follow courses taught in English and engage in research activities that may lead to formulation of a PhD project.

The Scholarship covers travelling expenses and local expenses including housing with 8.000 DKK (roughly equivalent to 1075 Euro) for each month of stay in Aarhus. This amount is sufficient for accommodation and living expenses for one person. Adequate accommodation will be available for the successful applicants.

The Department has a large range of internationally competitive activities, so the PhD-education takes place in a scientifically inspiring environment.

PhD Studentship in Low Complexity Multiview Video Coding, De Montfort University phd neuroscienc

STARTING OCTOBER 2010

A PhD research studentship within Technology, De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester, is available to suitably qualified students. The aim of the project is to develop efficient solutions for low complexity multiview video coding. The project will be co-supervised by Professor Raouf Hamzaoui from DMU and Professor Pascal Frossard from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Candidates should hold a good first degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related fields. They should have excellent programming skills in C/C++ and good knowledge of video compression. This research opportunity is one of 15 scholarships funded by DMU in 2010/11 to build on our excellent achievements in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. Applications are invited from UK or overseas students who should have a good first degree (First, 2:1 or equivalent) in a relevant subject and a keen interest in video coding. Doctoral scholarships are available for up to three years’ full-time study starting October 2010 and provide a bursary of £13,500pa in addition to University tuition fees.
